Ricardo Daniel Piña was born in the Federal Capital of Argentina on August 22, 1962, where he currently resides. He lived in Miramar, Province of Buenos Aires, for 4 years where he began his first poems at 16 years of age. He was excused from obligatory military service in 1981 which kept him out of the Falklands war in 1982. Mr. Piña followed a course of studies in Economic Sciences at the University of Mar del Plata and then at the University of Buenos Aires. At the same time, he took part in the workshop of literature with Dante Peralta and Viviana Iriart (licensed in Letters of from the University of Buenos Aires) and then assisted with a workshop of the poetry of Mario Morales. He also participated in workshops of theatrical direction and acting under the charge of Raúl Mereñukin in the school “El árbol”. There, he collaborated with Mr. Mereñuk in the work “El imperceptible grosor de una cadera” (debut in 1993). He participated in 2 workshops of poetry directed by the poet Enrique Ivaldi (disciple of Mario Morales) and another by the poet Jorge Smerling. Mr. Piña was part of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters until 1992 when he suffered an accident that removed him from the academic environment. He was educated in a merchandising family during the ascendency of the Peronistas which caused him to compromise himself with the ideas of the workers. He was a union delegate in the years after the return to democracy in 1983. His work was included in an anthology of Argentine youth poetry of Ediciones Del Dock (1995) “Poesía En La Fisura” anthologized by Daniel Freidemberg. A few of his prizes and honorable mentions:

The sculptor Lilian Ortiz collaborated with his creations for Galaxia Mosca, Instrumentos y cuerdas y Primera antología por Encargo de W. C. He was published in the magazine La Bolsa de Pipas (Palma de Mallorca, Spain). Around the same time, he was published in the revue PleBeLla (on paper) created by a group of gifted writers de Zapatos Rojos.
