An old highway
exposes itself
lingers along landscape
weaves a portage
of ancestry
into
a
   series
             of
                 edges

where
a map of sound
absorbs dialogue
dissolves
into monologue
sheds its rootless name

where
a wordless song
surfaces
travels along currents
flowing past tree roots
spills out
under boundless sky
where
yawning earth
swallows errant shards of light
within a fashion
akin to the odyssey itself.
