The poetry (and photography) of Monica E. Smith has appeared in many print and online journals, most recently Taj Mahal Review; Folly; Carnelian; Amaze--The Cinquain Journal; Tamafyhr Mountain Poetry; Quill & Parchment.  Two of her poems have recently been accepted by C. E. Laine for the Sun Rising Poetry Press anthology, Washing the Color of Water Golden, a fundraiser for Hurricanes Katrina/Rita damage.  It will be released later in 2006.

Monica has written one book of poetry, Days of Fine Gray Ash, a collection of love poems, endorsed by Poet/Author/Professor Nikki Giovanni.  Says Ms. Giovanni about Days...

"There are some things, cotton candy, roasted peanuts, cloudy days with storm clouds brewing, that quite naturally make us want to curl up in a favorite chair, wrapped in a favorite quilt, with a good book in our hands. If that book is DAYS OF FINE GRAY ASH the day will have been successfully navigated and you will have arrived at a wonderful point of exploration."

Monica is presently re-working her web site, Monica's Expresso Cafe (http://purplequill.com ) and compiling poems for her second collection.
