Ode to a Prophet

If I could write love poems
I would write one for you
Gentle Prophet
Reaching across centuries
Speaking to my heart
I would wrap my arms around you
Like Khadija
Cast my cloak
Over your shoulders
Ease your fears
Calm your trembling soul
I have no doubt
You were not possessed
Except of AllahÕs Grace

If I could write love poems
I would sing your praises
Beloved Prophet
Like bold Aisha
Who told of tender touches
Your head lying in her lap
Your arm stretching cloth to cloak her
Patience with childrenÕs games
Playful races together
When she was young
And old
I would race with you
To the end of the Earth
To AllahÕs embrace

If I could write love poems
I would bring one to you
Tender Prophet
Like Fatima
With her tears
Waiting to join you
In bliss
I smile to think
Someday we shall walk together
In gardens
If I follow your footsteps
On the path
That leads to you
And Allah
