Negar Hasan-Zadeh was born in Baku/ Azerbaijan. After high school at the age of 17, she entered the Baku University of Russian language and literature. In 1998 she graduated from the University having majored in philology. In 2000 in Baku/Azerbaijan she published her first collection of poetry in Russian language. In 2001 she became the youngest member of Azerbaijan Union of Writers. Since 2000 Negar has made her home in London/UK. Her book ON WINGS OVER THE HORIZON was translated into English by the poet-translator Richard McKane, who is known for his translations of great Russian poets such as Anna Akhmatova, Osip Mandelstam, Nikolay Gumillyov. ON WINGS OVER THE HORIZON was published in February 2002 in London by Anglo-Capsian Publishing Ltd. On March 2002 her book ON WINGS OVER THE HORIZON was awarded by the National Academy of Azerbaijan the National Public Prize as the best poetry book of 2001. Negar has read and been translated internationally.
