Nicholas Y.B. Wong is currently a postgraduate candidate at the Department of Comparative Literature, School of Humanities, The University of Hong Kong. His thesis is on (detached) body parts in relation to desire and fetishism. He has spoken on various conferences in his candidature on Hong Kong directors, such as Wong Kar-wai and Johnnie To. His paper on Wong's latest short film The Hand was awarded as one of the best graduate papers presented at Asian Culture Forum 2006 held in Gwangju, South Korea. Besides academic research, Wong is also dedicated to creative writing and has published poems both locally and internationally (such as Yuan Yang, Moving Poetry, Fe/male Bodies, APWN Special HK Edition).
