Born in 1948 in a remote village in Guntur district Andhra Pradesh,india
 R. Purushothama Rao is a post graduate in Telugu language and literature and  worked with State Bank of India for 33 years. He has two volumes of Telugu poems published and has more than 750 poems, 50 essays and 15 stories to his credit.  He has penned over 600 poems in English as well. He aspires for and respects human values in day to life. He is also contemplating to translate prominent Telugu poems into English.
