Jerah Chadwick is a 25 year resident of Unalaska in the Aleutian Islands, where he originally went to raise goats and write, and since 1988, has taught for and directed the University of Alaska extension program for the Aleutian region. For the past 10 years, he has participated as an assistant bentwood hat making instructor at Camp Qungaayu, a regional Aleut culture camp held in Unalaska. Chadwick's work has been published in the U.S., Canada, and the Republic of Ireland. State Street (NY) and Seal (WA) presses have published his chapbooks, and Salmon Publishing of Ireland issued a 2nd edition of his first full-length collection Story Hunger in 2005. In October 2004, The Alaska State Council on the Arts named him to a two-year term as the Alaska State Writer Laureate. |
