I am a Kenyan, mshairi (poet in Kiswahili) living in the UK dreaming of a time when the cultural, legal and political obstacles that prevent African women attaining economic independence and equality are eradicated.

My poems are as a result of a variety of circumstances. They are homage to the important people and things in my life and salutation to worldwide events that have a bearing on all our lives. They are also overheard snatches of conversations and thoughts.

My poems are my music. Writing poetry with rhythm, the only way I know to write poetry, fulfils my need for creative expression.
