Afshin Babazadeh was born in 1963 in Tehran.   He came to United Kingdom in 1979 as a student.  He studied at various institutions, Derby University, Cranfield Institute, and Portsmouth University.  In 1991 his first collection of poems in Persian, Letters to Mother of Stones, was published in London by Payam Co. Publication.  A second collection in Persian, Breakfast in a Better Circumstances, was published in 1995 by Medad Publication in London. A selection of his poems were translated and published in Swedish in 1998.  In 1999 his first short play, based on newspaper head lines, was performed by Behzad Bolour.  Three more collections are being prepared for paper publication; Cows, Bodilies, and When I lay next to youCows is presently available on an Iranian web site.  Bodilies has already been translated into English.  His work also appears in various anthologies.
