Kali Magic

When the sun collapses into the sea
Leaving behind luscious shadows,
Kali emerges from the caliginous room
Once inhabited by our ancestors.

She transfuses us with
Her obsidian luminosity and
Guides us into deeper shadows
By her throbbing redolence.

Her rounded luster intensifies
Her bold, fearless eyes,
Her extended tongue,
And her intense womanhood.

Our shadow queen draws light
Into her cavernous mouth,
Creates new uncanny tableau and
Hides the fecundity of congealed blood.

Our women too revel in her thirst,
In her concentrated inventiveness,
In her voluptuous appeal and
In her all-consuming presence.

Their red-tinged lips chant,
Kali Bole, Kali Bole,
To seduce the future
Into a benign submission.
