Disguises

Ammaji says we live in disguises.
We are deep mystery.
We are known to none
though many know us and love us
for the mystery that pulls them
out from behind the masks
they wore as disguises
but those were only thin shells
that even non-seers
sometimes saw through.

True disguise, says Ammaji,
is to contain multitudes
of contradictions
woven into one
like the ocean is one
and the sea anemone
and the blue whale within it
are of equal grandeur
and equal insignificance.
