Kavita A. Jindal is a poet who was born and brought up in India. She has lived her adult life in England and Hong Kong.

“Raincheck Renewed” her second collection of poetry was published by Chameleon Press in January 2004. It has become a poetry bestseller in Hong Kong, the city that provides the backdrop for several of the poems in the collection.

Kavita tackles a range of issues in an oblique manner.  Of her work, a critic has said, “ Her work is accessible and fun to read, but at the same time, it has depth and complexity. It's great to find poetry which is both funny and serious."

Over the years Kavita's writing has evolved into a conversational style not bound by conventional rules of form. This is because too often, reading poetry is regarded as an 'effort', and Kavita hopes to show that it can be part of a busy modern life; offering a short sharp burst of contemplation and fun.

Kavita reads regularly at the Fringe Club in Hong Kong and at schools.  She has also performed at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival in 2003 and 2004. She is a judge for the 2004 Poetech: SUNDAY U-decide SMS Poetry Competition.
