On the way out

It didn't take long to pack everything,
and have all the boxes in the truck.
It was quite easy to make piles of clothes,
the ones to keep, the ones to throw or give.
Which documents to take
was a more difficult decision.
Among all the bills, payslips, letters
and pictures, one's life slipped by,
year after year.
Should I need any of them again?
Oh, the picture of the first child!
He is so big now, and all of us
were that small once,
even our parents.
Funny thought!
But I have to hurry and
not waste time remembering.
All needs to be packed by five.
Yes, in all, the packing was quite easy,
the hardest part was to look inside
from the outside,
measure the emptiness,
and be on the way out.
