J D Ballam was born in the USA in 1963, and has lived in England since 1988.  He is the author of one collection of poems, four plays, a critcally-acclaimed autobiography, and numerous academic books, articles and reviews. His poetry frequently appears in magazines in the US and Europe, and he currently teaches for the University of Bristol and the Open University.  He is married with two children.
