Cortney Davis’s most recent poetry collection, “Leopold’s Maneuvers” (University of Nebraska Press, 2004) won the 2003 Prairie Schooner Book Prize.  Her other poetry collections are “The Body Flute” (Adastra Press, 1994) and “Details of Flesh” (CALYX Books, 1997).  She is author of a memoir about her work as a nurse practitioner in women’s health, “I Knew a Woman” (Random House 2001 / Ballantine Books 2002), winner of the 2002 Connecticut Center for the Book Non-Fiction Award, and co-editor of two anthologies of poetry and prose by nurses, “Between the Heartbeats” (1995) and “Intensive Care” (2003), both from University of Iowa Press.  “Intensive Care” was named a 2003 Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing.

Recipient of an NEA Poetry Fellowship, two Connecticut Commission on the Arts poetry grants, and two Pushcart Prize nominations, Cortney has published poems in Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Massachusetts Review, The Sun, Witness, Crazyhorse, Ontario Review, Hudson Review,  Bellevue Literary Review, and other journals.  She has given readings and workshops around the country, most recently in Washington DC, Ohio, Boston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Denver.
