Fire Walk
Tip through that field of fire,
Watch closely every step.
To not know which, the way to go
Can burn the hopes you've kept.
A moment passes, smoke is clear,
you think you know the way.
But one small step won’t justify,
The heat still has a say.
How far's too far, while airborne ash
falls in search of ground?
When do you know, you crossed a line:
disintegrated bound?
Dodge the sparks, if you can
They'll find you nonetheless.
But, even standing still, look close,
You're standing at your best!
Brave are those who risk the path
With no guide up ahead.
Courage held a smoky hold,
when all was done and said.
So take a breath and hold it deep
Till you come through the fire.
To spite the soot, a seed will bloom,
and reach a little higher.
Ash to ash, dust to dust
Heart to soul, thoughts that stalk
Smiles, tears, hopes and fears
Its all there in a fire walk
