Peaks and Valleys

               Spring run-off
               Turns clear water cloudy
               Contrasting my mood

Poppies’ bowed heads
Touched by first light
Spring to attention

                          Eagles’ nest
                              Trespassed by ravens
                              Provokes a dogfight

                              Goats scramble
               - a thousand feet below
               a car feels the hoofprint

                                             From the bridge
                                             Icy waters beckon
                                             - I can’t let go
